With Pippa Wilson at Mantra Studio Kitchen & Bar

What an absolutely fantastic afternoon of great music, perfectly matched with a really delicious menu and great selection of beverages.

And, thank you to the sell out crowd for our first time at Mantra.

Patsy and Dave and all the gang made us feel so welcome and they have put a gorgeous venue together, perfect for music, a great concert space available and a state of the art recording studio, all in this amazing location.

Thanks to Marion Blazé for the photos.

Pippa Wilson with Jazz Notes in Yarraville

Pippa Wilson in an up-close-and-personal show backed by Ann Craig (flute) and Kevin Blazé (guitar).

We’re heading for the Mantra Studio Kitchen and Bar for a relaxing afternoon with lots of music.

Pippa will sing some of her favourite crowd-pleasers including jazz standards, jazz-inspired pop, a bit of Latin – all with the beautiful velvet tone that is her signature.

Jazz Notes, in various combinations, has been accompanying Pippa for several years. This combination gives Pippa a chance to shine, stripping the sound back and allowing our audiences to get close and personal to this lovely lady.

More videos of Pippa Wilson with Jazz Notes

Pippa Wilson sings ‘The Shadow Of Your Smile’ with the Jazz Notes Duo

Pippa Wilson sings the beautiful ‘Shadow Of Your Smile’ accompanied by Ann Craig (flute) and Kevin Blazé (guitar). The music was written by Johnny Mandel with lyrics by Paul Francis Webster for the 1965 movie, ‘The Sandpiper’.
When things became very quiet in 2020, we thought we should ‘get together’ with Pippa and do something. So, here it is: a video made under COVID restrictions.
We’ve had so many great gigs with Pippa including several at Ringwood RSL. In 2018, we were on the Frankston Arts Centre’s major events calendar with our show featuring Pippa Wilson and the Jazz Notes Showband, ‘Songs from the Cinema’. We had so many fantastic songs to choose from, but we totally forgot about this gem.
No sandpipers here but you’ll hear our local birds in the background.

Birthday party

Ann, Tony and Kevin played for Chris’s 60th birthday party.

Cocktail party background music to start and then building to some more funky tunes. And, of course, playing requests!

Ann Craig (flute) and Kevin Blazé (guitar) were joined by Bob Sedergreen (keyboard) for a fabulous afternoon at Eira Café, Eltham.

Kevin couldn’t stop smiling. Bob’s expressions varied!

Ann Craig Trio at the Castlemaine Jazz Festival

The Ann Craig Trio played for the opening of the Castlemaine Jazz Festival 2016 by the mayor, Councillor Christine Henderson, held in the Market Hall of the Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre. At the conclusion of the opening ceremony, Councillor Henderson joined the Ann Craig Trio, singing I’m Beginning To See The Light. We played there again on the very cold Sunday morning.

The Ann Craig Trio played sets in the Cumberland and Bridge Hotels and, as last year, on the train to Maldon and back.

House party

What a great setting for a house party: amongst Marj’s vibrant artworks.

We were asked to play popular music from the 60s to the 90s which we obediently did. Seeing the band’s name, one of the party-goers asked for some jazz and we were pleased to oblige.

Towards the end of the party, we were playing requests to back guest singers. We were fortunate that Ann knew so many of the songs; Tony and Kevin were able to find the charts on their iPads.

It was great fun: we’d like to do more of these!

Two sets: opening the Festival at the Mountain Grand on Fri, 12 Feb, 2016.

Then, the open stage on Sat, 13 Feb 2016 with special guest vocalist, Pippa Wilson.

Sundays with Jazz Notes at the Ringwood RSL

From Sunday 9 August, Jazz Notes will be playing Sundays 2-5pm at the Ringwood RSL.

We’ll be playing as a trio and looking to explore some musical colours as well as covering a variety of music.

There’ll be the usual jazz and pop and, if the audience is receptive, might something a bit more classical. Of course, we’ll take requests.

The Ringwood RSL is located directly over the road from Ringwood Station and the bus interchange. There is also plenty of parking.

So why not make Sundays at the RSL your new thing!  Nothing like LIVE music to soothe the soul.
