It must have been the coldest and wettest night of the year but the audience was warm and enthusiastic!
Pippa was in fine form vocally and bantered with the audience and the band – especially Daniel Pickard and Ann Craig.
‘It was great music, musicians, venue and sound.’
‘Very enjoyable night. Pippa was great with Jazz Notes providing excellent entertainment. Lovely local venue hopefully I will be back in October.’

Jazz Notes supported Jan Blake’s fundraiser for the Isabella and Marcus Paediatric Brainstem Tumour Fund. On this night, Jazz Notes comprised: Jan Blake (vocals), Ann Craig (flute), Brett Willis (saxophone and clarinet), Kevin Blazé (guitar), Frank Morgan (bass).
A great night with Pippa at the Ringwood RSL on Saturday 21 June!
It was a good-sized and enthusiastic audience (at least, judging by the whooping and hollering on our recording) for dinner and the show. The music gelled well and we even managed two unrehearsed requests. There were calls for ‘one more’ even after ‘just one more’!
A few dancers, too.
We received a couple of emails the next day: ‘Have listened to Pippa many times and havn’t heard her sound better —-flute and strings rhythm worked really well’ ‘Thank you – a wonderful night, thoroughly enjoyed by all !’
Thanks to John Craig for suggesting the event and providing some of the equipment.
A lot of preparation went into this event: graphics for printed materials, lighting, candles and gemstones for the tables, … . So many hours put in – especially by Ann! And then there was the preparation of the Ringwood RSL’s Function Room. Thanks to Justin, Ashley, Andrew and Marion for helping with setting up, working the door and packing up.
Marion’s really getting the hang of the photographs, too. Some examples below.

Three great sets with the Jazz Notes Quintet: Luella at the front. Two sets on Saturday night (at the Public Inn and the Cumberland), both with Chelsea on drums. Then, Sunday night at the Bridge Hotel with Mark on drums.
Enthusiastic and appreciative audiences at all of them.

It was a good crowd in Warrawee for our first set at Inverloch. Some blues, some more modern and, of course, some jazz. We even had some people dancing!
Probably the best venue for sound: great for Luella’s debut at a jazz festival.

Ann Craig (flute)
Kevin Blazé (guitar)
Andrew Eames (bass)
Allan Smith (drums)
Jazz Notes will be presenting two different line-ups at the Inverloch Jazz Festival:
On Friday night (7 March at 11pm), Luella McCormack will be vocalising and Allan Smith drumming.
On Saturday night (8 March at 11pm), we’ll be fronted by Chelly Parisi with Nicole Thorne (piano) and Rob Mercer (drums) storming behind.
On both nights, Ann Craig (flute) will lead the front line while Andrew Eames (bass) will hold down the bottom end; Kevin Blazé (guitar) will try to control the band!
