Our first visit to Bev’s delightful venue in Somerville – a short hop from the new Peninsula Link.
Ann Craig (flute), Kevin Blazé (guitar) and Andrew Eames (bass) enjoyed an enthusiastic audience and good food.
It was a mostly instrumental affair but we managed to persuade Bev Fraser to join in for several vocal numbers. We’ve been invited back in March and hope that Bev can take time from her duties to sing even more.

On the eve of the Melbourne Cup, 150 guests gathered at the Lake Mountain Alpine Resort for the presentation of awards for Australia’s best sparkling wines.
Set in the strong landscape of skeletonized trees killed by the heat of the bushfires of Black Saturday, 2009, this was a striking venue.
The wines were accompanied by a gourmet dinner and the music of Jazz Notes, playing a range of vocal and instrumental jazz along with some pieces from the pop repertoire.

With Juliane suddenly indisposed through illness, we were fortunate indeed that Marge Hamilton and Chelly Parisi were available to step into the breach. And they carried it off very well with enthusiastic renditions of some of our repertoire as well as some songs that we hadn’t tried before.
So, for our last Sunday at Bar Oussou, our line-up was:
Bar Oussou, 653 Sydney Road, Brunswick (see map)

We’ve been asked to stay on for another 4 weeks:
Sundays 4pm-7pm on October 14, 21, 28 and November 4.
It was an enthusiastic and sizable audience. The appreciation was infectious and benefited the playing – things just came together.
Brought in some passers by, including a dancing toddler!
People came … and stayed.
Mary turned on a great barbeque – it was very good value and especially during Happy Hour.
One last session: Sun 7 Oct 2012, 4-7pm
