Kevin filled the vacant guitar spot for the Synopsis Combo at the Cumberland Hotel (Saturday) and the Public Inn (Sunday) playing Colin’s sax favourites.
Colin and Kevin played in The Jazz Drive together so it was great to renew the musical experience.

Three great sets with the Jazz Notes Quintet: Luella at the front. Two sets on Saturday night (at the Public Inn and the Cumberland), both with Chelsea on drums. Then, Sunday night at the Bridge Hotel with Mark on drums.
Enthusiastic and appreciative audiences at all of them.

To the organisers: congratulations on a great effort. We’d expected to strike problems at the inaugural Castlemaine Jazz Festival but had none. Such a good vibe, too. (Even the weather was great!)
We can only hope that you had enough fun to make it happen again in 2015 – perhaps extending into Monday.
On Fri, 23 May 2014, Ruskin Park Primary School celebrated its 50th anniversary at Wyreena Gallery: a cocktail party in the atrium to the music of Jazz Notes.
Ann Craig teaches various intruments at Ruskin Park so, naturally, it was to her that they turned for the event’s music.

Ann and Kevin played a relaxing Sunday afternoon set at The Treble Clef Jazz Lounge and were joined again by Risa Kodani (vocals) for a few songs. (We’re told that singing is good for babies in utero!)

Lovely to be invited to back Annie Smith.
Annie and Kevin played together in The Jazz Drive for a few years but we’ve both been doing other things of late. The impromptu sets were great fun.

Our second set, fronted by Chelly Parisi, was mainly jazz standards but with the added drive of Nicole Thorne on keyboard.
Kevin was thrilled to play a duet with Nicole.
Again, there were dancers!

It was a good crowd in Warrawee for our first set at Inverloch. Some blues, some more modern and, of course, some jazz. We even had some people dancing!
Probably the best venue for sound: great for Luella’s debut at a jazz festival.

Jazz Notes will be presenting two different line-ups at the Inverloch Jazz Festival:
On Friday night (7 March at 11pm), Luella McCormack will be vocalising and Allan Smith drumming.
On Saturday night (8 March at 11pm), we’ll be fronted by Chelly Parisi with Nicole Thorne (piano) and Rob Mercer (drums) storming behind.
On both nights, Ann Craig (flute) will lead the front line while Andrew Eames (bass) will hold down the bottom end; Kevin Blazé (guitar) will try to control the band!
On Sunday 16 February, Ann Craig (flute) and Kevin Blazé (guitar) whiled away the afternoon at the Treble Clef Jazz Lounge in Chirnside Park.
We were joined for a few songs by Risa Kodani – and hope we can do that again sometime soon!
