After a few winery stops and some shopping, we were off to Goolwa and with the band sharing a house, there were some very funny evenings, indeed!
The sun was shining for the very first gig of the Goolwa Jazz Festival, with Pippa playing to a full house in the Centenary Hall, a few teething issues with the PA which were sorted out by our next gig and a very engaged audience set us up for a fabulous weekend.
We were very lucky to have this venue for all four performances with Pippa. Goolwa really knows how to treat their guests.
Caught in the Act! Yup we were there and were caught having way too much fun.
Great music and we sold quite a few copies of our album, ‘Pretty Eyes’, so we were very happy about that.
Special thanks to Ashley for making the quick trip (1600km) up and back to allow Caught in the Act! to perform with its complete lineup and all for 2 sets! That’s commitment!
October was such an amazing month for great gigs with Pippa. Our first time heading to South Australia for a Jazz Festival and the Southern Jazz Club in Adelaide. We all had so much fun and the weather was delightful.
The Southern Jazz Club hosted Pippa with Jazz Notes and the audience certainly got a great show. Some of the audience commented how they have wanted her at the Club for many years.
Pippa was in top form and Jazz Notes supported her with the confidence she has come to expect from us. We are a friendly bunch and that shows on the stage always. We were so thrilled to be able to combine this trip to SA for these two very memorable events.
We were thrilled to be invited back to the Phillip Island Jazz Club and were warmly received by the very friendly audience. We played several songs from our ‘Pretty Eyes’ album plus a number of more traditional jazz songs – all to enthusiastic reception.
Some surprise visitors make the trip to the Island and were happy that Pippa got up to sing a couple of her crowd-pleasing favourites.
We were also able to see President Robin Blackman receive a donation from the Bendigo Bank. The Bendigo Bank is a great contributor to our local communities, including the Arts community.
Thanks to our amazing band: Ashley, Malcolm, Frank, Simon, Ann & Kevin, and to our partners for joining us for the afternoon.
And thanks to Marion (again) for these fabulous photos.
Thanks for having us again at the Phillip Island Jazz Club, Robin & Jill: we’d love to come back again!
Melbourne’s Lady of Jazz, Pippa Wilson, will sing some of her favourite crowd-pleasers including jazz standards, jazz-inspired pop, a bit of Latin – all with her beautiful velvet tone.
Backed by the Jazz Notes band: Ann Craig (flute), Kevin Blazé (guitar), Malcolm Hornby (piano), Frank Morgan (bass) and Simon Atkinson (drums).
